An ex-soldier identified as Nasur Abudala, together with two other colleagues, who included  one Olema Ruda were on Wednesday embattled in a fight with three police officers on duty at Tobolia trading Centre in Logiri Sub County. They in the process disarmed one of the officers.

Trouble started when the Sub County chief of Vurra James Afeku through the OC Omogoro police post deployed three police officers to arrest market venders who sell commodities along the road sides and direct them to sell their items in gazetted market places like Ejupala.

As the police executed their duty, they moved into Logiri Sub County where a group of youth who claimed to be part of the Kiboko squad attacked them. One of the youth who was an ex-soldier disarmed a policeman and after over powering him.

The Police in Vurra customs were consequently forced to reinforce the squad whereby the gun was later recovered. By the time the reinforcement arrived, the police officers had been tortured by the youth and had to be rushed to Kuluva hospital for treatment.

A case of assault has been opened at Logiri Police post with SD REF: 05/19/09/2012 as investigations continues to certain the cause of the fight.

Police public relations officer Josephine Angucia who visited Vurra customs police post to ascertain the gravity of the matter learnt that, the police went beyond their area of operation which angered the people of Logiri into attacking them.

According to an eye witness, the boys who disarmed the police had been recruited by the LC3 boss of Logiri Yovan Adriko to guard his home premises and provide security in the Sub County.

The source intimates that, recently the same group of people tortured a man called Batulimire Naku who later died. The Kiboko squad also recently assaulted a business man at Ejupala called James and looted all his properties.

Our reporter learnt that two people identified as Nasur Abdala and Ruku were arrested over the alleged grabbing of gun from the police and taken to Logiri Sub County police post but the the LC3 chairman stood for them and they were granted bail.          End.
