Two construction companies from the powerful countries of China and America are fighting over the construction of Vurra customs roads in Vurra County Arua district.

Tramico, a construction company from America and CICO, a Chinese company are battling over the road from Odia-Nyadri to Vurra customs. Trouble sparked when the American company Tramicon won a mining contract in Democratic Republic of Congo and was transporting its machines through the dilapidated road from Odia-Nyadri to Vurra customs to Congo.

The bad condition of the road prompted the American company to seek permission from Arua district LG to grade the road to help their machines move easily to avoid damage on the road which is in a grave condition with full of pot holes.

Tramicon which is already transporting heavy mining equipment’s to DRC but the bad the transporters complained of the bad condition of the roads and seeked for permission form Arua district LG to grade the road.

Tramicon deployed road equipment’s including one grader, wheel loader, bulldozer, tipper lorry and a pickup which machines are already working on the road.

The American company started maintaining the road on Sunday from Vurra customs heading to Odia-Nyadri since the district gave them a period of 10 days to grade the road at their own expense as they willingly accepted to work on it for the purpose of transporting their machines to DRC.

This move by the American company to improve on the condition of the road did not please the giant Chinese Company CICO which won the contract of tarmacking Vurra Arua Koboko Oraba road which President Museveni recently launched its construction.

The Chinese company CICO the official road contractor was provoked to start a spot improvement on the road where the road is in a worse condition on the same road.
Our snoops learnt that, Tramicon has already graded the road up to 5km form Vurra customs to Odumi where Vurra county headquarters is located.

According to security heads in Vurra border post said the grading of the road by tramicon is in good faith but will not breach the official contract of CICO. The GISO vurra Felix Obitre Ndema said confirmed to this paper that, their role as security leaders is to ensure that the road is worked upon.

Recently the Japanese Ambassador to Uganda H.E Kazua Minagawa described Ugandan roads worthy and fit for body massaging.

Minagawa who said his travel from Kampala to Arua on the termark road was fair but it turned terrible as he crossed from Odia Nyadri to Logiri girls. He said the road was full of pot holes which are fit for body massaging like massaging machines in the gyms.
The road connecting Arua town from Uganda Congo border has become impassable with uncountable pot holes which are more dangerous during heavy down pours.

The shadow minister of Defense also Member of Parliament for Obongi county Fungaroo kaps Hassan has vowed to revenge on his smashed car during the USuK elections.

The furious and strong Forum for Democratic Change man said, the plan and move to vandalize, smash cars, and causing harm to the opposition leaders who were present during the USuK elections was well planned by the NRM leaders who only used the ready voters on ground to do the action.

Fungaroo who addressed a press briefing at Hotel Pacific on Saturday said, if elections are marred by planned violence, then there is no democracy in this country and it is better for the ruling party to declare war and the party that wins takes over government instead of misusing the name of democracy in the pretext of dictatorship.

“The rowdy Katakwi voters were shouting, we want Alaso dead and later they went ahead to vandalize and smash the windows of opposition cars. Some of the supporters were soldiers but wearing NRM T-shirts as planned by the government” the strong FDC MP said.

According to Fungaroo, police in Katakwi supported the rowdy voters as the voters over powered them and we were forced to call police from a neighboring police station to rescue them. This proved that police were compromised and could not take action independently, he said.

He confirmed in the press briefing that three people have been arrested in connection to the violence and as opposition we have set our lawyers to take the case seriously so that justice prevails. “We are going to pressure the judiciary to ensure that our case yields fruit.

“We are going to prepare and cause violence come 2016 regardless of fear and pretext since it is the NRM leaders who have started the war through violence. If the nation cannot protect you, then you have to protect yourself” Fungaroo reiterated.

The shadow minister for defense noted that the ruling government is strongly depending on the use of guns and military weapons to threaten the opposition leaders but warned that one day, the people using these guns will get tired of the ruling system and change the same guns to end their lives like what happened to late Gadhafi.

Guns don’t fight but people hold guns to fight, however one day people using the guns will turn to kill the owners of the gun and justice will prevail” Fungaroo remarked.

The aspiring candidate for Forum for Democratic Change FDC party president Maj. Gen Mugisha Muntu has described president Museveni as a greedy leader who does not want to leave power but rather cares on how to retain power.

Muntu said Museveni is leading the country to a dangerous crisis if he continues with his greed than Service delivery for tax payers in the country.

He cited corruption in the country, un equal distribution of resources, dictatorship by the ruling party which brings a lot of hatred and anger among the people and this will one day lead the country to demonstrations like other countries due to poor leadership.

The former soldier of Museveni said, the president does not have a transition and succession plan yet he has counted years to rule the country citing some of the reasons the country is in crisis right now as, no drugs in hospitals, poor road systems, people involving in scandals of embezzling billions of shilling and nothing done about them yet the government collects more than two billion dollars from the tax payers.

Muntu intimated that the ruling party is divided with a lot of scandals which shows the crisis is deepening especially when the leaders are falling apart due to their selfish interests, greed and self-motivation which ruins good governance.

The strong FDC man made the statements while addressing FDC delegates of west Nile region in Arua on Monday. He said it’s time that people voted for a leader who will change the current status of Uganda and purify and cleanse the country from what is happening.

He said Uganda is a country of unity but has currently been misdirected by poor leadership which he will address once elected to lead of FDC party and the country at large. Muntu is looking forward to increasing the number of leaders from local councils to the highest offices so as to influence decision making in terms of service delivery.

There is also a plan to replicate election by monitoring elections and engage in building strong structure by party members since Ugandans are not following democratic means of electing their leaders which he said has to change if he goes through as the party president.

Muntu is intimating to re-brand FDC and create the real image of togetherness so that people know about FDC from the grass roots and identify to it as a party because they have less years to capture power.

Though the candidates are seriously moving around the country convincing delegates to cast their votes to them, there is a challenge of updating the voters register which is currently in a bad state and may cause problems by the time of the elections because some people are threatening to block the exercise if the old register will be used.

Muntu is competing against Nandala Mafabi and Ekanya Geoffrey who expressed interest to be the party President come November 22nd to replace Dr. Kizza Besigye who stepped down as the party president late last year.
